About me

Hello & welcome to GRACEINYOGA!

My name is Grace Bermudez-Norman and I am a 200Hr RYT Certified Yoga Teacher. My aim is to create a nurturing space for you to explore tools that are already within your reach, enabling you to tap into your inner power to rebuild and transform your physical and mental well-being.

I first tried yoga almost 10 years ago and I couldn’t tell you what type of yoga it was or what my initial intentions were for joining. What I can tell you is that I almost fainted in my second class! I came to a quick resolve that yoga wasn’t for me and didn’t return for the rest of my bulk-bought classes. Fast forward to 2016 and I stumbled upon yoga again.

It was a time in my life when I was mentally, physically and emotionally exhausted. Traumatic childhood, stress of family and working life, years of battling with bouts of depression and anxiety and even the process of aging were finally taking their toll on me. I had not considered yoga straight away based on my past experience but when a friend asked if I wanted to join her in local yoga class I thought, why not? I’d try anything again to feel better and have my energy back. Corny as it may sound, but there I was, lying in my first savasana at the end of the class, feeling as If I’d come home. The regular practice I would continue to have thereafter did indeed relieve me from aches and pains, boosted my energy and I became physically stronger; I looked toner for it too, but more significantly for me, it is yoga’s encouragement and guidance to journey within that helped (and continually to help) me heal mentally and emotionally.

The teacher comes when the student is ready.

In the same period, I was also searching for direction in life, for my purpose – my dharma. The inner voice whispered ‘teaching’ and so off I went to embark on academic teaching. But along the way, things didn’t feel right and my heart just wasn’t in it. An opportunity to consider before committing to training presented itself and I took the time to discuss my reluctance with a friend. She simply stated, ‘What about that yoga stuff you seem to be getting into, why not teach that?” And there it was again; that same feeling I felt in my first savasana – my friend’s statement sat home with me… and here I am, living my purpose through you.

In the same way that, “the teacher comes when the student is ready”, yoga comes when we are ready to receive its teachings and to live by its principles. It is my mission to light your path and to support your personal journey towards a healthier, happier and more meaningful life.

Namaste!
